Herniated disc

Surgical technique

The technique consists of approaching the spine from the front. Through a discreet, horizontal incision, the disc and the hernia are completely removed and replaced, either by a cage filled with bone that will block the two vertebrae, or by a prosthesis that will preserve the mobility of the region.

DIFFERENT SURGICAL TREATMENTS

FILM: PERCUTANEOUS DISCECTOMY

FILM: MICRO-DISCECTOMY

Percutaneous discectomy: consists of inserting a mechanized probe through the skin and into the disc. The probe removes a part of the disc, decompressing the area. This technique is used for medium sized hernias.

Micro-discectomy: consists of creating a small incision opposite the hernia and removing the hernia and a large part of the disc. This technique is used for large or excluded hernias when the envelope of the disc is broken.
